Measure Of A Man

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy" The quote above always seems to strike a chord in my soul every time I read it. On this journey down the hallway of manhood there are times where I have to go back to this quote to keep myself from regressing back into a child like mentality. You see as children when we see danger our first reaction is to run and seek shelter from our problems. But even though I know that I have people in my corner who if I need them will help me out of any situation I might find myself in. As a man I have to stand firm in my mistakes just as I do when I accomplish something great. See regardless if I need shades for all my sunshine filled day or if I need an umbrella when storms form over my head I have to remain firm in the man i want to become and not let controversy or a challenge scare me back into a childlike mentality. See I was bred to be a King by my ancestors and all those kings and queens who came before me so to do anything less than that is completely disrespectful to the struggles they endured just for me to be in the position that I am in today. And to quote a great poet of this century "See the road ant paved with Gold but we still easing on down" see I had the pleasure to be in the presence of this young man at his prime and even though he is no longer with me in the flesh his spirit lives on everyday I wake up and continue to ease down this road. Its true that i will fall short sometimes and I won't always make the right decisions but its how you right your wrongs that really becomes a testimony for your character and truly measures your manhood.
